MS-DOS Batch File Question

Postby xKasuka1 » Mon Mar 19, 2012 2:57 am

Some people may not seem to get the whole process of putting the addresses in the hosts file. But I had a question. Is it possible to use a file to automatically add the lines to the hosts file?
example:
Let's say I'm a noob at putting addresses in files. Well I look at the forums and sees a download that automatically puts the lines in the files. DOWNLOAD! There, on my desktop, I see a file named "EGS.bat" There's a readme that says just click it and it'll auto add the lines. So I click it and as it says, it adds the lines. So I can play the egs server! (also with a .bat file that removes it so you can connect regularly to official servers.)

Is that possible?
---
kay here just a test.
This is this .bat file.

I'm executing the file

And this is the outcome (i took the pic early and so it didn't rename yet. but still.)

Yes, its possible, but are you really that lazy? You could just make a shortcut to the folder, and comment out the lines in the file whenever you wish to play on the regular servers.

I already put in the lines manually. So I'm not lazy. :P PS I have it done here.

The new exe will have the hostname edited directly in it, so you won't need the hosts file edited anymore.

If you want to share things using dropbox, put it in your Public folder instead.
