Since the patch itself it technicly a ToS issue, what are the odds of getting a dll to auto translate the names of items in game. I know its possable as i found the table of strings in the memory. I just want an opinion on it :P.

That depends.

Can you do it consistently without having to change anything each time? Is there any extra work involved in making sure it works consistently?

I'd ask about it potentially conflicting with GameGuard, but my first question is, "How in the world did you do that?" I get that you said you found the strings in the memory, but by using what? Cheat Engine?

Yeah i used CE to find it. I set up a pointer to the table and it has been working flawlessly for the past several boots. I'm a bit sloppy with my lua but i just had it going through the whole table and comparing the japanese in the memory to a table i setup. If there was a match it replaced the info with the corisponding english string. The strings stayed between loading areas but would flush if i relogged or if i swapped blocks. Also item strings dont exist untill they are encountered so the dll would have to doing periodic checks. If coded right a dll shouldnt set GG going crazy.

This would be neat if conflicts with GG could be avoided, but I'm going to defer to Agra as to whether this is something that should be looked into.

At this point I think Sega should commit seppuku.

I recognize it helps a lot. However... i think even translating can be very risky.

Only because their security's made of tissue paper.

While you're free to do what you like, the main patch isn't going to include DLL hooks. Gameguard already crashes everything, I don't really feel like making it more risky.

If it's something that's going to make Gameguard go crazy and stop people from playing, don't release it.

If it doesn't actually break anything, then there's no reason to not release it. Not to stroke your ego in advance or anything, but you'll be one of the mighty translation heroes of PSO2.

If a proper dll is made and used with a good injector then it shouldnt send GG going too crazy. The only real thing would be setting up the aob so that the dll auto updates itself with each update.
