    Hello,

For anyone who wants to help, here's a general todo list organized by skills required. Feel free to contact us if you're willing to help and have the required skills.

Tasks that require nothing more than the client, a brain and a lot of time:
    * Figure out what all the client's data files are and how to read them.
    * Figure out how to add or modify client-side content.
    * Understand how the patch server encryption works (it seems a little different than PSOBB). Then how the patch server works.
    * Understand how photon arts work.
    * Understand how the PP cubes work.
    * Figure out how the flags work and what are the 3 types of flags.
    * Understand how to decompress the TMLL chunk of the nbl files.

Tasks that require a running server and hex knowledge.
    * Figure out the protocol for:
    ** Bosses (commands 11xx).
    ** My room (commands 13xx).
    ** Trading (commands 19xx).
    ** Casino (commands 1dxx).
** Partner cards, simple mail (commands 15xx).

Tasks that require a packet logger up and running, with at least 2 people.
    * Figure out how the mission state is sent and kept when going from map to map (commands 12xx).
    * Figure out how parties work, what is broadcasted and what isn't.

Actually it's not alpha. I'd hardly even call this a QA stage...

This is alpha because I say so. Alpha and beta only mean what the project author say they mean.

    Exactly, it is all subjective.

For example, PSO2 is starting its alpha in a few months, and knowing the way ST does things, it probably might as well be called a demo.

i say its on alpha, wich usualy means tht is still under construction ,and tests are being made,
beta is already a functional version of the game, where data is collected in order to find glitches, rebalances, and other stuff. so pretty much a pre release version. "right?"

Most games go QA/Internal-> Alpha (normally internal as well) -> Beta (Closed -> Open) -> Gold

And again, what exactly qualifies as each stage is entirely subjective and up to the developer.

Most games don't use any of this and have no public release before going gold other than a demo.

I know you have probably posted it somewhere Essen, but I wanted to know if you have a general idea when you will be taking this from Alpha to Beta? Just wondering because I found this site last night and got on the game to check out what you have. Like it so far, but can't wait to play and interact with my room/character and such.

Essen you still need 2 people to run and go packet collecting? I've never done it but it can't be to hard. I can do it if someone can join and show me how to use a packet logger. If you have the packets than disregard this comment. I say that cause thats the only way I can help other than running and finding bugs.

I just recently finished the Assassin's creed series for PC and I'm just wondering if you would make a priv server for brotherhood (or maybe revelations) =D, just a request.

This is a private server project for Phantasy Star Universe, what on earth makes you think essen is going to do a private server for Assassin's Creed games? Even if he were, you'd be waiting years.
  3.
I wish there was some way I could help this perfectly great idea to host a PSU private server. If only I was savvy with programming; if I had the knowledge of programming as much as the knowledge I have with writing, developing & creating characters. I would do anything to help you out... IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO? I will donate though... <3

i think the encryption was already figured out, i think making the code for a new server in England is the challenge here.

Not exactly sure what that means, but by what I can guess by thinking of how you speak about making it in England, that maybe it means you simply need a japanese translation or something? I can't really tell... If I knew what you meant I'd offer my help. I don't actually know anything about doing it. But I'd be willing to spend a bit of my time on a lot of searches for it.

Sit back and wait; nothing you can do will help move the project along, short of learning erlang and working on the coding while essen is busy with other projects.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA no.
    1. They've openly admitted several times that they have no plans or interest in any form of PSU project
    2. The current staff they have now is the most irresponsible, lazy, and undependable I've seen lately. It's on par with Sega's service these days.
    3. I really don't think "Kaizo PSU" would be very popular (anyone who's played on their custom content on PSO:BB will understand what I mean)

Besides that, Schthack already left ages ago, who was like the major cogwheel for the server. The only people which could be of some use are Ives and Lee.

Can anyone help me? So I installed PSU AOTI and played Story Mode and I decided to play Network Mode (Private Server).
And then I added this (in "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts):
    188.165.56.119 patchpc.ipsueu.segaonline.jp
    188.165.56.119 loginpc.ipsueu.segaonline.jp

    188.165.56.119 patchpc.ipsu.segaonline.jp
    188.165.56.119 loginpc.ipsu.segaonline.jp

So then I started Network Mode, I logged in then it checked patch files and then installed files then I press ENTER to exit after that I started Network Mode again and etc. so I appeared in Lobby but no players were there D: Why? Help pls!
